Rark stood there worriedly.
"Is it done yet?" he demanded.
"Not yet!" yelled a worried voice.
Hours passed. Still nothing. Cries and hisses of pain bellowed out of the hollow tree. They slowly became quieter, and quieter, and quieter...
"I-I think you should come in," Andeka murmured, grief and worry clouding her voice. This couldn't be good news.
"Sh-she's dead." The long, silent pause felt like a sharp dagger claw slicing through Rark's heart. "Th-the pups are alive though. You can name them." Slowly, Andeka led Rark to his small, weak newborn pups.
He scanned the lot. His one daughter had dazzling, stunningly beautiful emerald green eyes, just like her mother.
"Emerald. This one is Emerald."
Emerald was nursing her three pups; Alexis, named after Emerald's mother, Bark, with rough-textured fur like bark, and Claw, because his tongue was as sharp as a claw. Her beloved Rumule, father of the pups was beside her. They sat close together, watching out for humans.
As expected, one came. It held another shiny stick, pointing it directly at Emerald. Panicking, Rumule and Emerald hurriedly shoved the pups away. Rumule and the pups survived fine. Emerald did not.
The claw shot straight into her neck, going right through to the other side, spilling a shimmering river of lumpy, thick, oozing blood. Another hit her belly, flooding the river of blood to burst its banks. Blood was like Emerald's life; slowly seeping out of her, dulling away.
Emerald's spirit takes residence in this tree and whenever an animal (from The Forest) climbs the tree, they are guided by the branches. If it is an animal from another Territory however, they are thrown off.

Emerald, or Queen Emerald, or Mother Emerald, is the Ruler of The Forest. The Forest is one of the three Territories. The Desert, The Jungle, and The Forest. The Forest is the wisest, the closest to their Ruler, and the Territory with the least traditions. Queen Emerald, unlike most rulers, does most of the work of her Territory rather than her animals.H
istoryshe's more ordinary than you think
Unlike most stories, this does not begin with Once Upon a Time and end with And They Lived Happily Ever After, The End. This is about an ordinary, slightly short story. And it all begins in an ordinary storm, in an ordinary forest, in an ordinary day.Rark stood there worriedly.

Three wolves of The Forest had hunted a human. But the dumb creatures were fighting back! There were countless men holding shiny grey sticks that spat out claws.Emerald was nursing her three pups; Alexis, named after Emerald's mother, Bark, with rough-textured fur like bark, and Claw, because his tongue was as sharp as a claw. fter Deathshe never really died
When Emerald died, (King) Bloodstreak (the fox), the heir after Emerald, decided to bury her right in the centre of The Forest. On the way, whilst carrying Emerald, he found a seed. It was like a pinecone mixed with an acorn mixed with a helicopter and all other sorts of trees. Bloodstreak buried the seed with Emerald, thinking that it would grow big, strong, wise and fast like Emerald.Emerald's spirit takes residence in this tree and whenever an animal (from The Forest) climbs the tree, they are guided by the branches. If it is an animal from another Territory however, they are thrown off.
